"Students leave San Benito as scholars"

Learner Profile

Our learner profile was created by our teachers and compiled into an image of what each students' stripes look like when they exit our learning-focused community.

S.T.E.A.M. All Day

Science-Technology-Engineering/Environmental Ed-Art-Math

To best address the needs of our 21st century learners and to prepare them for a technology based future, our school is focused on incorporating STEAM education throughout the day.

Each classroom begins each day with 30 minutes of "But First, STEAM" involving a STEAM focused lesson, every child from Pre-K to 5th grade has a science notebook, and 1st through 5th grade classrooms have 1:1 Chromebooks.

This year our focus is to incorporate STEAM throughout the entire day making it apart of our daily instruction time.

Artists in Residency

Each year in the spring students participate in visual performing arts lessons taught by local artists. Each year students will focus on either drumming, dancing, acting, or visual arts. Students present and perform everything they have learned during our annual Art Showcase. This program is entirely funded by our Live and Silent Auction that takes place during the Art Showcase thanks to the hard work of our PTA!

A Green Ribbon School

We have been honored at the Gold Level in 2020 and at the Silver Level as a Green Ribbon School in 2019 by the US Department of Education. To qualify our school needed to demonstrate efforts in creating a sustainable environment for our learners, environmental education, and significant strides for health wellness among staff and students.

Student Clubs

San Benito is proud to offer lunch and after school clubs for students to explore their interests outside of the classroom.

all Grades

Garden Club guided by One Cool Earth takes place once a week during lunch for students interested in helping in the garden and doing garden activities.

4th and 5th Grade

Student Council is available to students who run for an elected position led by Mrs. Tschoepe.

During lunch. we offer a Robotics Club which guides students through building VEX robots and participates in local competitions ran by Mr Ballinger.

Battle of the Books is an exciting district-wide reading competition.
